New iOS 18.4 RC build now available ahead of imminent launch

Apple just released a brand new RC (release candidate) build of iOS 18.4, bringing additional bug fixes and refinements to the update ahead of its imminent public launch.

Revised RC for iOS 18.4 likely addresses critical bugs

This Monday, Apple released RC versions of its next big software updates.

iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, macOS 15.4, visionOS 2.4, and more are launching soon.

Normally an RC build is expected to be the final software version before public launch.

But as happened yesterday with macOS 15.4, Apple sometimes needs to release a second RC build as part of the testing cycle.

Though Apple doesn’t share details on the specific changes made between each RC build, typically it only ships a second RC if critical bugs were discovered that needed to be fixed before launch.

The new RC released today carries build number 22E240.

The first RC from earlier this week was 22E239.

Apple has released this new build for all developers and public beta users.

iOS 18.4 launching soon with these new features

When iOS 18.4 launches publicly, as early as this coming week, it will bring a large array of new features.

Here is an overview of everything new that’s coming:

There are a variety of smaller UI updates and changes too, making this an especially feature-rich update for iPhone users.
