It’s been a little more than two months since the Season 2 finale of Severance dropped on Apple TV+ and, if you like the show as much as I do, you’re still recovering.
Now, as part of its “It Starts On The Page” special, Deadline has published the full script of the episode, including a foreword by show creator Dan Erickson, in which he reveals what the episode was originally going to be called.
Season 2 was mysterious and important
After three long years of anticipation, followed by two intense months of (mostly) great episodes, the waiting really paid off. Severance wrapped up its Season 2 run in March, earning great reviews and avoiding the common trap of trying too hard to outdo a breakout first season, only to… well, completely miss the plot.
Now, as part of its It Starts on the Page (Drama) special, which is “featuring 10 standout drama series scripts in 2025 Emmy contention”, Deadline has published the entire finale script, alongside a letter signed by show creator Dan Erickson, in which he reflects on Season 2.
In the letter, besides revealing the finale’s original title, Erickson also comments on two particularly ambitious scenes that probably stood out to any Severance fan as well.
Be sure to check out the script on Deadline, which also offers a glimpse of how actors manage to take small notes or direction tidbits on the page and turn them into memorable quotes, memes, or, in Severance’s case, Macrodata gold.
Season 3 is underway
Season 3 is already confirmed, though there’s no word yet on when it’ll arrive. In the meantime, both seasons of Severance are obviously streaming on Apple TV+, and are sure worth a rewatch.
Apple TV+ is available for $9.99 per month and features hit TV shows and movies like The Studio, The Morning Show, Shrinking and Silo.
